CAMPBELL EXTENDS STAY AS LINKS PARK ASSISTANT
Appointed in February by Gable Endies Boss Stewart Petrie, Campbell made the move from playing staff to management and flourished in the role during a season run in that took the Club to their first promotion play offs in 9 years.
Ross arrived at Links Park in 2015 from East Fife and made 21 appearances as a player last season.
Ross said, “I really enjoyed working as a coach at Montrose in the second half of last season. Everything at the club seems to be moving in a positive direction so when I was asked to step into the Assistant Manager position, I did so without hesitation.
"At 34, I still have ambition to keep playing as long as I can however the opportunity to work closely with Stewart, Jim and Sean was too good to turn down and will be my focus over the next two years."
Stewart said, “I am delighted Ross has agreed to extend his contract. He is so professional and super organised with everything he does and is a really positive influence on the boys.
"With Sean Dillon coming in as First Team Coach to join Ross and Jim Butter, our Goalkeeping Coach, I couldn't have a better or stronger backroom team.”
Golf Inn owner Kevin Young met Montrose FC joint Vice-Chairman, Peter Stuart, in the lounge this week to discuss plans for the season ahead.
Kevin said "We are delighted to sponsor the Club again this season. We like to think of ourselves as a community establishment and Montrose FC is one of a number of local clubs and teams we sponsor. We would like to wish the club every success this season".
Peter added "We are delighted that The Golf Inn have continued with their sponsorship for the coming season. It is a fantastic local establishment with Kevin and Alison doing a lot for the local community. We really appreciate their support."

GABLE ENDIES LAND EX-TANGERINE CAPTAIN DILLON
Since ending his 10 year stint with the Tangerines a month ago, a string of clubs including Peterhead, Arbroath, Forfar, Alloa and East Fife have all reportedly been chasing the 33 year old defender.
Mo Boss Stewart Petrie was obviously thrilled at landing such a marque signing for his League 2 side, “I am absolutely delighted Sean has agreed to join the Club. His reputation goes before him and as soon as I spoke with him a couple of weeks ago, I just knew he was the real deal.”
The Dublin born Irishman will not only have a playing role at Links Park, he will also become First Team Coach, joining Petrie’s backroom staff of Ross Campbell (Assistant Manager) and Jim Butter (Goalkeeping Coach).
Petrie added, “Sean will not only bring experience on the park as a player, he will also be a fabulous influence on the rest of the squad, both at training and in the dressing room. He is a great professional and his fitness levels are up there with the best.”
Before joining United, Dillon played for Irish teams Longford Town and Shelbourne in the League of Ireland and also represented the Republic of Ireland at U16, U21 and B international level.
Moving to Scotland in January 2007, Sean became Craig Levein’s first signing and went on to make 346 appearances for the club, scoring seven goals and memorably lifting the Scottish Cup in 2010 after beating Ross County 3–0.
Sean said, “I am really looking forward to this new challenge. I had such a great time at Tannadice but it was the right time for me to move on. I have been so impressed with Stewart and the setup he has here at Montrose.
“Stewart brought promotion play-off football in his first season and I know first-hand how disappointing that can be when it doesn’t go your way but I believe we have a great chance of bringing success to this Club in the near future and I will be doing everything I can to help make that happen.”
Dillon, who will feature in the Club’s first pre-season friendly tonight at Links Park against Cove Rangers (KO 7:45pm), is pictured with co-Vice Chairmen David Laing and Peter Stuart.
The Club also confirmed that recent signing Dean Brett was to leave the Club by mutual consent.
Stewart explained, “Unfortunately Dean has found the excessive travelling is having too much of an impact on his family and so reluctantly he has requested to leave the Club.
“We completely understand Dean’s position and whilst obviously disappointed in losing such a talented player, family must always come first and we wish him all the very best for the future.”

BLUE TOON MIDFIELDER JOINS MIGHTY MO
Montrose FC have signed midfielder Jamie Redman on a 1 year deal. The experienced 30 year old left Peterhead last month, having been with the Blue Toon for the past 6 years.
Jamie celebrated his first season at Balmoor by winning player of the year and was a stalwart in their league winning side of 2013-14. Last season he made 32 appearances for Jim McInally’s side including both legs of the promotion play off semi-final against the Gable Endies.
Having captained the Scottish Universities' side when a student at Edinburgh University, then boss Steven Tweed tried to bring Redman to Links Park in 2009, but the youngster chose instead to join Arbroath, then Brechin before heading north in 2011.
Assistant Manager Ross Campbell said, "I have known Jamie since 2003 when he was at University. Jamie is not only a very good player but an excellent professional which is the type of person we are keen to bring to the club. He will complement the group that we have and make the team better so is a signing we are very pleased to make."
Jamie added, "I am delighted to sign for Montrose and excited to get the season started. I saw the character of the team first hand in the play offs and as soon as I knew they were interested in signing me I was very pleased."
This brings the number of newbies in the Montrose squad for next season to 6, following hard on the heels of the signing earlier today of Dean Brett.
MONTY MOLE NEEDS YOU!!!
If so, you could be the very person for a vacancy at Links Park as Montrose FC are looking for a new Monty Mole.
The Club’s popular mascot was out and about much more frequently last season, and he is keen to keep this up as we head into season 2017-18.
PETRIE STENGTHENS DEFENSIVE OPTIONS
Stewart Petrie said, “This is fantastic news for us and I am delighted Dean has agreed to join. He has had a difficult last couple of years personally, but his ability on the park has never been in question and I consider him one of the best right backs in our division.”
Edinburgh born Brett began his career at Cowdenbeath in 2009 and played 149 games for The Blue Brazil, scoring 9 goals.
However, in February this year the Central Park side sacked Dean after he was found guilty by the SFA of gambling on football matches.
The 24 year old admitted to having a long term gambling addiction, made worse during a traumatic few years in his personal life, with his 22-year-old wife having died of cancer in January 2015, four months after their daughter Mollie, who was born prematurely, had died.
Since leaving Cowdenbeath, the defender has been receiving professional help and played out the remainder of the season with Junior outfit Bonnyrigg Ross Athletic.
Petrie added, “Dean knows what he did in the past was wrong. He has accepted his punishment, is receiving help for his problems and I am more than happy to give the boy a second chance.”
This brings the Montrose squad for next season to 17 and the Gable Endies gaffer says he is still looking to add one or two more names to the list before too long.
