GABLE ENDIES ADD FIREPOWER TO PROMOTION PUSH
Montrose FC have signed in demand striker Martin Rennie from Junior side Lochgelly Albert until the summer of 2019 as Manager Stewart Petrie looks to add more goals to his promotion run in.
The 23 year old, who joined the McBookie.com East Region outfit in 2016 from Kirkcaldy YM Amateurs has scored 17 goals this season playing both as a front man and in behind a front two, bringing him to the attention of a number of professional clubs.
The Links Park side currently sit top of Ladbrokes League 2 with title chasing Peterhead breathing down their necks, only one point behind but with 2 games in hand.
Petrie said, “Our priority, coming into the transfer window was to increase our options up front and I am delighted Martin has chosen to join us. Our form this season has been excellent and the squad we have is very strong, but we are always looking to improve.
“Having trained with us recently, we were able to get a good look at Martin and we have been very impressed. He comes highly rated, full of confidence, carrying a real threat from set pieces and a good goal scoring record.”
Rennie will go straight into the squad for the Gable Endies home game against Clyde tomorrow.
BOLO MAKES SPFL TEAM OF THE WEEKCongratulations to Michael Bolochoweckyj whose performance and goal on Saturday against Edinburgh City has earned him a place in this week’s SPFL Team of the Week...

CSKA SCOUT VISITS LINKS PARK
We were delighted to welcome Sergey Vladimirovich to Links Park on Tuesday as the CSKA Moscow Scout was keen to take in a League 2 game as part of his most recent works trip to Scotland.
Sergey was in the country to cover the Old Firm match last weekend and is heading south of the border to watch the Nottingham Forrest v Arsenal FA Cup tie on Saturday. Having been to many other Scottish clubs over the years, he noticed Stewart Petrie’s side were top of the league and decided to experience first hand the Gable Endies experience.
Although he normally covers the German Bundesliga, Sergey enjoys his Scottish trips as he always loves the pies!!
Sergey is pictured with Club Chairman John Crawford.
1879 BUSINESS CLUB EVENT POSTPONEDDue to unforeseen circumstances, the event scheduled for 23rd February has been postponed until March. New date to be confirmed shortly.
LEWIS MILNE JOINS GABLE ENDIES
Mo Boss Stewart Petrie has moved quickly with the transfer window opening yesterday to make midfielder Lewis Milne from Angus neighbours Forfar Athletic his first addition to his table topping side.
The 23 year old joined Gary Bollan’s Loon’s from Cowdenbeath in 2016 and scored 8 goals in his 31 appearances last term. Following a short spell in Australia, Lewis returned to Scotland and Station Park in November but was unable to break into Jim Weir’s new setup.
Edinburgh born Milne began his career at Dunfermline Athletic, playing for the club's youth setup before moving to Cowdenbeath in 2008, where he went on to secure a professional deal two years later.
Lewis made his first team debut in May 2011 against Ross County and remained at Central Park for 8 years becoming an increasingly regular member of the first team squad before his move to Angus in 2016.
Petrie said, “I am delighted to get Lewis in so quick. He comes very highly rated and has arrived just at a time when we find ourselves short of central midfielders and he will go straight into today’s squad for our home tie against his old club Cowdenbeath.”
GAME ON AT LP - BUT PLEASE TAKE CARE
Despite the frost, the pitch at Links Park is in great condition and today’s game against Cowdenbeath goes ahead as planned.
However, we would urge fans to allow extra time and take extra care in and around the ground as some surfaces are likely to be tricky, made worse by the forecasted rain.
Please also note there will be restricted parking in the car park, due to fence damage caused during Storm Dillon on Hogmanay.
We hope you have a safe and enjoyable day out.
DEFENSIVE CHANGES AT LP
Due to a rising injury list, Dundee United have recalled Cammy Ballantyne from his season long loan spell at Links Park. The 20 year old full back has made 22 appearances this season scoring 2 goals and will be a huge loss to what has been a strong defensive unit in recent weeks.
On a positive note, Michael Bolochoweckyj returns from his loan spell at East Stirlingshire, where he has been completing his rehabilitation from his Achilles injury suffered last April and will be in contention for a place in the squad for the Cowdenbeath fixture at home tomorrow afternoon.
Similarly, Jordan Millar has also returned from his loan spell at Lochee United, where he clocked up some valuable game time to maintain his match sharpness.
Mo Gaffer Stewart Petrie said, “It is obviously disappointing to be losing Cammy at this stage in the season, but I am delighted for the boy and he thoroughly deserves a chance to break into the United first team. He has been excellent for us and I would like to thank him and wish him the very best of luck on behalf of everyone at Links Park.
“Given this unexpected news it is great to have Bolo and Jordan back to help strengthen our options at the back ahead of an important game tomorrow and there is always a possibility of Cammy returning on loan before the end of the season.”
HAPPY NEW YEARAs we say farewell to 2017 and bid a warm welcome to 2018 we would like to wish all our fans, supporters, volunteers, participants, staff, Directors, players and Management team a very happy and prosperous New Year.
CALLING ON SP’s BARMY ARMY
What better way to kick off your Hogmanay weekend than popping along to Links Park tomorrow to cheer on Stewart Petrie’s high flying Gable Endies.
The Mighty Mo spent Christmas proudly perched on top of the league for the first time in 23 years and we would love to extend our current 10 game unbeaten run into the New Year, but a very tough opponent stands in our way.
We last faced Peterhead at Links Park back in May in a tight 1-1 Promotion Play Off draw and The Blue Toon are set to be determined to close the 6 point gap that separates the sides ahead of the match.
In more ways than one, this is a proverbial 6 pointer so we need as large a support as possible to get right behind the boys and end the year in the best possible way.
FRIDAY NIGHT FOOTIE AT LPWhy not pop down to Links Park tomorrow night to support your local Junior footie team...
