Kick Off: TBC
Final League 2 Table 2017/18
SEAN MAKES SPFL TEAM OF THE WEEKCongratulations to Sean Dillon, whose solid performance at Stenhousemuir has earned him a place in this weeks SPFL Team of the Week.
MO CHAIRMAN THANKS TRAVELLING SUPPORT
Montrose FC Chairman John Crawford was full of praise for the huge numbers of travelling fans that made the trip to Stenhousemuir on Saturday, and encouraged everyone to come along to Links Park this weekend for what will be a nail biting title decider.
Between buses, trains and cars, more than 600 Gable Endies took over the local pubs and clubs in Stenhousemuir before the vital Ladbrokes League 2 fixture.
Filling the enclosure behind the goal, SP’s Barmy Army then created an electric atmosphere inside Ochilview turning the tricky away tie into more of a home day for the league leaders who were hoping to clinch the title.
Despite winning comfortably with 2 early goals, a late strike by Peterhead up north means the Mighty Mo will have to take at least a point from Elgin on Saturday to secure their first league title since 1984/85.
John said, “On behalf of everyone at the Club, I would like to thank our fantastic fans for all their support this season. Our away numbers in recent games has been incredible and I know how much it has spurred the players on at some difficult grounds.
“For a town our size to take 5% of the population to Stenhousemuir is just brilliant and the atmosphere they created was unbelievable.
“The Management and players have put us in a great position and we now just need one more result against Elgin.
“Days like these don’t come along that often and I hope everyone will come along to Links Park on Saturday and create a great and memorable day.”

GIN TASTING PROVES EDUCATIONAL TONIC
A group of teachers from Montrose Academy celebrated the start of their Easter break with a special Gin Tasting event at Links Park, organised by the Club’s Fundraising Committee.
Club Announcer (and fellow teacher), Ross Thomson, guided the group through the subtle differences between a range of different gin’s and what type of tonic was best to bring out the flavour of each spirit.
A great time was had by all, although some found this more testing than others, and rumour has it, it may become part of the curriculum next term...

MIGHTY MO DIRECTOR JOINS BOARD OF EUROPE’S ELITE
Montrose FC Director Peter Davidson has been appointed to the Board of the European Football for Development Network (EFDN), further endorsing the great community work undertaken by the club together with its charitable arm, Links Park Community Trust (LPCT).
The vision of EFDN is to promote and use the connecting power of football as a tool for social development and a more social society, aimed at International, national and local community programmes for disadvantaged young people and adults in Europe.
The network consists of the most community focussed clubs, of all sizes, from throughout Europe with members including, Ajax, Tottenham Hotspur, Barcelona, PSG, Rangers, Celtic, Benfica and Sparta Prague.
Montrose FC, recently crowned ‘Best Professional Club in the Community’ by the Scottish FA, have been members of the EFDN since 2016, represented by Peter as Chief Executive of LPCT.
Peter said, ‘’I am both honoured and excited to be joining the Board of the European Football for Development Network.
“Football has the ability, and with that an obligation to engage, inspire and support many, particularly those that are most disadvantaged in our communities.
“Membership of the network has allowed LPCT to access European funding, engage in pan-European projects with fellow members, but more importantly, learn and share best practice with regards the development and delivery of community benefitting programmes.
“I am delighted to now be taking our involvement to the next level, and I look forward to working alongside my fellow Board Members in supporting Hubert Rovers (EFDN CEO) and his team as they continue to expand the size, reach and impact of the organisation’’
Peter is pictured left with, fellow Board Members Balint Maté (Ferencvaros), Ton Strooband (Feyenoord Rotterdam), Wim Beerlaert (KAA Gent) and Jan Ryrlen (IF Elfsborg).
MIGHTY MO MAKE CRACKING OFFER TO KIDS
Montrose FC are shelling out to provide all their young fans with a free cream egg ahead of their Easter weekend fixture against Edinburgh City at Links Park.
Young players Matty Allan, Cammy Ballantyne and Lewis Milne were egg-cited to hear the news, which they first thought was a yoke!
Stewart Petrie’s side are pushing for promotion from Ladbrokes League 2 and the manager is urging the Mo faithful to turn out in numbers to support the boys.
Stewart said, “Our fans have been egg-celent this year and the players really appreciate the support. We hatched a plan back in August and we are egg-static with how things have panned out so far.
“The Easter egg giveaway on Saturday is a great gesture by the Club. I thought it was to everyone but the Chairman told me I was meringue, and that it was only our younger fans!.”
Club Mascot Monty Mole will be on hand just prior to kick off, in front of the Bryan Keith Stand to hand out the cream eggs to the kids.
