SPEAKING WITH SEÁN
New signing Seán Dillon signed for the club in the summer following his departure from Championship side Dundee Utd.
The Irish defender chose Montrose before a host of other clubs and that was down to the chat he had with the Mo gaffer, Stewart Petrie, and he’s really enjoyed his time at the Gable Endies so far.
He said: “I spoke to a few clubs and pretty much all of them were part-time. So, I had my head around going part-time. The only person I spoke to before joining was the manager and he was the main reason I joined the club.
“I have enjoyed it so far. Everyone has been really welcoming and we have a good group of guys here, and I know everyone says that. I have to say, everyone at the club has been really good with me so I have definitely enjoyed it.”
Dillon is a big-name signing for the club but he said he’s not felt any added pressure – only the pressure he puts on himself. He also spoke on how the standard of the league has been so far.
“It’s a really good standard. It hasn’t been easy. I haven’t been treating games any differently; it’s been tough.
“I don’t see it that way [on him being a big name]. The lads have been brilliant with me so far. I always put pressure on myself – on how I play and how I train.
“I haven’t changed my approach to the way I train or play. Yes, it’s been different with us only training two times per week but it certainly hasn’t changed my attitude to the way I want to train or perform on a matchday.”
