Links Park Community Trust (LPCT) have changed their name to MONTROSE COMMUNITY TRUST!

Since launching in 2012, Links Park Community Trust have put the power and widespread appeal of sport, and in particular football, to very good use, in and around Montrose.

Through an extensive range of innovative programmes, within the areas of Community Sport, Education & Training, and Health & Wellbeing, LPCT now engage with over 10% of the local population, each end every week.

Using the facilities on offer at Links Park Stadium, the home of Montrose Football Club, and school and community facilities throughout Montrose and the Mearns, LPCT strives to support people of all ages, with their youngest participant aged 1, and their eldest in their nineties.

There is a particular focus towards supporting those most in need, with projects on offer to assist those who are unemployed, living in social isolation, living with dementia, recovering from an addiction, disengaged from the mainstream school curriculum, living with a disability, or suffering from poor mental health, to name just a few areas of work.

The charity, who in recent years have been crowned ‘Social Impact Business of the Year’ by the Dundee Courier, ‘Community Project of the Year’ by the Scottish Professional Football League Trust and, in association with Montrose FC, ‘Best Professional Club in the Community’ by the Scottish Football Association, have taken the decision to rename and rebrand, as explained by Chief Executive Peter Davidson;

“We feel that our new name reflects, to a greater extent, who we are, and what we stand for. We hope it will help people understand what we do and what we want to achieve, and we hope that more people will engage in our programmes, and/or support our work, as we strive to transform lives and the community.

Our name has changed, but our core purpose remains. We will continue to work with an increasing number and range of public, private and voluntary organisations in the development and delivery of community-benefitting programmes.

Sport, and in particular football, sets the context for the large majority of our initiatives, such is its ability to reach, engage and influence people...but we do, and will continue to do, so much more than football.”

Montrose Community Trust (MCT), formerly LPCT, are now working in association with the YM Montrose, supporting them in increasing the number and range of activities on offer within their town centre Community Hub.

MCT are also putting finishing touches to ‘Montrose United’ – a new, ambitious, multi-agency strategic plan which sets out their mission, vision, aims and objectives for the next 5 years, and this will be launched in the coming weeks.
