CAMPBELL MAKES 100TH GABLE ENDIES APPEARANCE
Ross Campbell took the field for Montrose FC for the 100th time recently when the Gable Endies won 2-1 at Stranraer.
Arriving at Links Park from East Fife in January 2015, the 35 year old showed his experience and versatility by being played at left back, centre half, midfield and upfront during season 2015/16 only missing one match.
After the arrival of Manager Stewart Petrie in December 2016, Ross took on the additional role of Assistant Manager and helped guide the Club to their first league title success in 33 years, lifting the League 2 trophy last season.
Focussing more on managerial responsibilities these days, Ross’s appearances come mainly from the bench, but he still has the ability to be an impact substitute, scoring the winner and his 15th goal for the club recently against league chasers Raith Rovers.
Club Chairman John Crawford said, “Many congratulations to Ross, this is a great achievement. When he first arrived at the Club, he was a strong leader in the dressing room, but he has taken this to a different level since becoming Assistant Manager. Balancing the playing side with this is never easy, but he is thoroughly professional and remains a great role model.
“His start against Stranraer was his first since September, but to his credit, he was ready and his passion, commitment and endeavour were never in doubt and he played a significant part in our win.”
