Stirling Albion U17s 4 Montrose U17s 2

The Mighty Mo travelled to Forthbank on the back of an excellent victory v Dundee the previous week and confidence was high in the camp. Ideal conditions for football and with Euan Rose injured and Fraser Burnett on holiday it was U16 Tyler Webley who had the responsibility of the No.1 keepers jersey. Kieran Thomson also missed out due to illness. The game was only 5 minutes old and unfortunately Webley was retrieving the ball out the net following some slack defending in the Montrose defence. However soon after following good work from Liam Stewart, Ryan Hunt latched onto his through ball and calmed equalised with a left foot shoot from 12 yards. The Gable Endies were level for a short period of time and further slackness in the Mo rearguard meant that they conceded two goals in quick succession to go 3-1 down after 15 minutes played. At this point it was looking like a long afternoon for the visitors however the boys "steadied the ship" and the game settled down with no further goals scored during the half and the revised 4-4-2 formation made an impact.

The Mo started the second half in determined fashion and took the game to Albion and were unlucky a few times not to reduce the leeway. It was great to see James Williamson welcomed back onto the park after a long spell out injured ironically at Stirling the last time we met. The next goal was going to be vital and after a great save from Webley from a direct free kick the home side were awarded what seemed to be a fairly soft penalty and if there was contact may have happened outside the box. The home side made no mistake and it looked an uphill task for the Mo. However the boys never gave up and were rewarded with a good finish from Damian Kalinowski form inside the penalty box after good pressure. The home side were concerned but the Mo were unable to add to the scoresheet and the game finished 4-2 in favour of the Binos. So a lesson for the boys that we must compete the full 90 minutes and the slow start proved costly. Next up Livingston at home.

Team - Webley, Bisset, Stracey, Glennie, Terrell, Smith, Stewart, MacLeod, Kalinowski, Hunt, Dobbie, Wilson, Stephen, Williamson, Henderson, Cameron
