Montrose U17s 1 Livingston U17s 2

The Gable Endies entertained the Livi Lions at Links Park and were missing the injured Euan Rose and Ross Fraser with a number of the younger players also on a school trip to Manchester. Fraser Burnett was back in the Mo goal with U15 keeper Adam Cameron providing cover on the bench. Before anyone had settled into their seat the visitors opened the scoring in the first minute with the Mo losing possession from their own kick off much to the frustration of the coach's including Scott Bridgwater who was back in the fold after a midweek trip to Barcelona.  A good finish all the same but a goal that should have been prevented.

However the boys "rolled up" their sleeves and were rewarded midway through the half when a "thunder bolt " from 35 yards from midfielder FRASER MacLEOD found top left hand corner with the keeper stranded. Unfortunately the home side were level for a short period of time and the visitors took the lead again from a corner with avolley inside the penalty box which again should have been dealt with. So after a fairly disjointed first half the home side were possibly happy to still be in the game only one goal down.

With the encouragement of their coach's "ringing in their ears" the second half despite the withdrawal of Kieran Thomson through illness saw great improvement with the home side taking the game to Livingston and was a huge increase in the work rate and quality of passing and the Mo were very unfortunate not to grab the equaliser that their play merited. Despite a better effort from the boys it was a little bit too late and the visitors showed great determination with a number of tackles to keep the Gable Endies at bay and were very unlucky on a couple of occasions. The boys continue to do well this season but need that "killer instinct" in front of goal and ensure they play the full 90 minutes to improve results further. Next game is on Sunday 29th October v Queens Park at Lesser Hampden.
