Greenock Morton U17s 5 Montrose U17s 2
Montrose travelled to Port Glasgow to face "top of the league" Greenock Morton on the back of a decent performance and important three points v Elgin. Mo were on familar lines and lined up 4-3-3 looking to be positive from the off. The visitors were on the back foot the first 5 or 10 minutes with The Ton bombing forward at every opportunity however the Gable Endies were playing some fine football and created chances of their own. The game remained 0-0 untl the 25th minute when the Mo failed to deal with a long ball over the top when there appeared to be little danger. However the lead was short lived as FRASER McLEOD latched onto a Euan Rose clearance and calmly rounded the home keeper to make it 1-1. The Mo weren't level for long and the home side made it 2-1 before half time when they were unable to clear a cross from the left and the ball was bundled home from inside the 6 yard box. So a pretty even half and an excellent performance from the Gable Endies.
The second half started in the same vain and flowed from end to end however it wa the home side who doubled their lead to 3-1 with another cross fom the left hand side and a fee header in the Mo box. The boys fought hard for the next 20 minutes or so and were rewarded with 9 minutes to go when Jackson Dobbie and Callum Bissett combined for CALLUM BISSETT to score from 20 yards out to make it 3-2. So Mo pushed for the equaliser however two slack pieces of play in the last 5 minutes "took the shine" off a fine performance and the game ended 5-2 in favour of the home side. So all in all a very decent performance for the Might Mo and one which received a positive response from the Morton coach's as well as their own.
