Montrose 0 Brechin City 2

Two goals in as many second half minutes secured a win for Brechin City in a pre-season derby clash.

The visitors took the lead in the 58th minute when trialist Kalvin Orsi flicked the ball into the box, ALISTAIR LOVE applying the slightest of touches to guide it beyond Jordan Millar in the Montrose goal.

Brechin doubled their lead a minute later, LOVE flicking the ball over his own head and that of Millar, the balling dropping into the empty net.

Newly-promoted Brechin looked lively throughout, Andy Jackson having a shot from the edge of the six yard box tipped over by Millar in the 10th minute.

Love’s ball across the face of goal deserved to be rewarded in the 27th minute, but none of his teammates were in position to capitalise.
James Dale also came close to scoring, but his shot straight at Millar was held at the second attempt.

Jackson was denied in spectacular fashion in the 34th minute when his header from Orsi’s cross was kept out by a full-stretch diving save from Millar.

Montrose started the second half in more positive fashion, Kerr Hay having a low shot tipped wide by visiting goalkeeper Graeme Smith.

Brechin continued to look dangerous, Finn Graham’s free kick slipping under the defensive wall but into Millar’s arms. The visitors also had a goal disallowed for offside in the 52nd minute.

Having taken a two-goal lead, Brechin never looked in serious danger of losing their advantage. Trialist Jordan Sinclair had a shot well blocked by Millar in the 65th minute, and McGregor’s header was well saved by substitute goalkeeper Euan Rose with seven minutes remaining.
