Montrose 0 Aberdeen 3

Montrose's final pre-season friendly ended in defeat to Aberdeen’s U20 side at Links Park.

The visitors took the lead from the penalty spot in the 27th minute after Graham Webster tripped Connor McLennan in the box. BRUCE ANDERSON stepped up and fired the spot kick to Allan Fleming’s left, the goalkeeper diving the wrong way.

The same player added Aberdeen’s second goal 11 minutes from time, collecting the ball, beating Matty Allan and lobbing the ball over Jordan Millar.

Trialist ADAM SUSAC completed the scoring two minutes from the end, bulleting a header into the net from Craig Storie’s corner.
Montrose could have taken the lead in the fourth minute, Paul Watson crashing a 28-yard free kick off the underside of the crossbar.
Aberdeen’s first chance fell to Lewis Hutchison, the striker blasting wide from the edge of the box.

Montrose’s Craig Johnston was unlucky in the 17th minute when he received the ball on the edge of the box before turning and shooting wide.

Anderson was a constant threat to the Montrose defence, having a low shot held in the 19th minute and having the ball snatched off his feet by Fleming in the 35th minute.

Toby Wells curled a free kick over Fleming’s bar in the 36th minute.
Aberdeen should have gone two goals ahead in the 38th minute when McLennan took the ball past Fleming, but Allan did well to clear off the line. Dean Campbell blasted the rebound wide of the target.

Anderson started the second half attempting to add to his tally, having a low shot held.

Watson tried his luck from long range in the 55th minute, his shot from wide on the left tipped over by Archie Mair.

Both sides came close in the dying minutes, McLennan having a shot well saved, Montrose trialist Connor McLaren heading over when unmarked six yards out and Webster heading wide from a Webster free kick.
