Playing Staff


JORDAN MILLAR (Goalkeeper)
After being released by St Johnstone in May 2016 Jordan joined Montrose on a one year deal and signed a fresh year’s deal after making 19 appearances in 2016/17. Jordan spent season 2015/16 on loan to Montrose from St Johnstone making 26 appearances. The Fife based player has played for the Scotland U17's spent 2014/15 on loan from St Johnstone to East Fife, where he made 8 appearances. Made his Montrose debut against Forfar Athletic in the Petrofac Cup in July 2015. Superb shot stopping abilities.

 

ALLAN FLEMING (Goalkeeper)
Allan joined Montrose in June 2016 from Angus neighbours Arbroath and made 27 appearances for the club in his first season. This included a spell of five clean sheets in six games which helped the club into the end of season play offs. The 33 year old, Dunfermline born Fleming joined Kelty Hearts from Cowdenbeath in 2005 and spent nine seasons with the junior outfit. In 2014, he moved to East Fife for one season before signing for Arbroath in July 2015, making over 40 appearances for the Red Lichties.

 

IAIN CAMPBELL (Left back)
The 32 year old returned to Montrose in July 2017 having originally left at the end of season 2016/17. Iain first joined Montrose in August 2016 having left Forfar Athletic in the summer. Iain made his debut in the Irn Bru Cup win over East Stirlingshire. The Kirkcaldy born defender started his career in 2002 with Dunfermline Athletic where he made 36 appearances for the Fife side. In 2006, he moved to fellow SPL club Kilmarnock for an undisclosed fee and during his time there spent loan spells with both Ross County and Clyde. In 2008 Campbell had one season with Alloa Athletic before joining Forfar Athletic where he enjoyed five seasons making 148 appearances and 13 goals. Briefly moving to Cowdenbeath in 2014, Iain returned to Station Park, initially on loan, before resigning for The Loons in 2015. Son of Dick Campbell, Iain has played under his father twice, at Ross County and Forfar and now joins forces with his brother, Ross Montrose assistant manager. Great with set plays especially corner and free kicks. Can also play at centre back.

ANDREW STEEVES (Left Back)
Andrew signed a new two year contract with the club in May 2017 after making over 80 appearances for the club since his arrival on loan from Forfar Athletic in March 2015. Andrew spent three months out of the side after suffering a serious knee injury in the cup against Lothian Thistle in November 2015 but still went on to claim the Directors Player of the Year and Fans Favourite trophies at the end of his first full season at the club. A popular player at the club he can play both left back and central defence. The twenty two year old Scone based player moved to Station Park after being released by St. Johnstone Finally broke his scoring duck with the club with a 30 yard screamer in the home win over Edinburgh City in April 2017.


CAMMY BALLANTYNE (Right back)
Cammy returned to Links Park in August on a season long loan from Dundee United after spending a successful 2016/17 at Links Park. He has made the right back position his own with some impressive performances. Originally joined United from Westwood in East Kilbride, Cammy played with East Kilbride Youth Club before joining the youth ranks at United in 2007. He agreed professional terms at Tannadice, signing a three year contract on June 26, 2013 and left school at Duncanrig Secondary to pursue his football career. Since then, he has featured regularly for the United U20 side and the Development Squad, while also playing for Scotland at U17 level. In 2014, Cammy represented his country in the qualifying and the final stages of the U17 European Championship, reaching as far as the semi final of the tournament. He made his United first team debut as a substitute in May 2016 towards the end of the 2015-16 season and that same month, he agreed a one year contract extension. During the 2016-17 pre-season, Cammy was promoted to the first team under manager Ray McKinnon. As well as picking up a few end of season awards at Montrose Cammy was also on the bench for Scotland U/21’s against Estonia in March 2017.

MICHAEL BOLCHOWECKYJ (Centre half)
The 33 year old centre half brought much needed experience to the Gable Endies back line when he joined on a two year deal from Clyde in May 2016. After a short stint at Ross County in 2003, Michael's career began in earnest when he moved to Alloa Athletic, where he spent 3 years, making 59 appearances and scoring 4 goals. Bolochoweckyj moved to newly promoted Berwick Rangers in 2007 where he scored in the Scottish League Cup against Stenhousemuir to help his side to an extra time win. The following year he moved to East Stirlingshire and scored just eleven days after signing in a 1–1 home draw with Dumbarton, which ended a run of eleven consecutive defeats for The Shire. Michael moved to Forfar Athletic in 2010 but returned to The Shire in 2013 for another 2 seasons before signing for Clyde in 2015 scoring on his debut against Livingston in the Scottish Challenge Cup. Currently out injured after suffering an achilles injury against Forfar Athletic in April.


SEÁN DILLON (Centre half)

Montrose fought off the competition of a number of clubs in secure the signing of ex Dundee United captain Seán in June  2017 on a two-year deal until the summer of 2019. The Dublin born Irishman will not only have a playing role at Links Park, he will also become first team coach, joining Petrie’s backroom staff of Ross Campbell and Jim Butter. Before joining United, Dillon played for Irish teams Longford Town and Shelbourne in the League of Ireland and also represented the Republic of Ireland at U16, U21 and B international level.
Moving to Scotland in January 2007, Sean became Craig Levein’s first signing and went on to make 346 appearances for the club, scoring seven goals and memorably lifting the Scottish Cup in 2010 after beating Ross County 3–0. He ended his ten year stint with Dundee United in May 2017 after a successful testimonial year and a match against Hearts. He also played his part in United’s unsuccessful attempt at a return to the Premiership after the side failed to negotiate through the end of season play offs. Age 33.

MATTY ALLAN (Defender)

Matty signed a one year contract with Montrose in June 2017 after completing a two loan spell at Links Park. The 21 year old spent the first half of season 2015/16 at Links Park, featuring 15 times for Paul Hegarty’s side, and only returned to Dens Park due to injury. He returned again last season featuring a further 13 times before being released by Dundee. Allan is a product of the Dundee youth academy who has regularly impressed in the Development League. His return to Links Park co-inciding with the club reaching the play offs and Matty had the extra reward off twice being placed in the SPFL team of the week.

RYAN FERGUSON (Midfield)
Ryan started his career as a youth player with Dundee United. He joined Dunfermline Athletic for a six month loan in season 2013/14. He left United in January 2014 and joined Brechin City. The 23 year old Kirriemuir based midfielder made 27 appearances for Brechin City in season 2014/15 scoring twice. A player known to ex manager Paul Hegarty from his days at Tannadice. Can also play in defence. He joined Montrose in July 2015 and has now made over seventy appearances scoring three times. Signed a new two year contract in the summer.

PAUL WATSON (Midfield)
Club captain Paul managed only six games for the club in season 2015/16 due to injury made over twenty five appearances last season before signing a new one year contract. Paul re-joined Montrose in July 2012 from St Andrews United for his third spell at Links Park. His first two spells came on loan from firstly Arbroath in season 2009/10 and then from Forfar Athletic the following season. After his first spell at Links Park, Paul was sold by Arbroath to Forfar Athletic but after being released at the end of the 10/11 he joined Peterhead. Had a spell with St Andrews United before his move to Links Park in the 2012. Scored in the opening four matches of the season 2012/13 before ending the season with six goals. In season 2013/14 Paul finished second behind Bryan Deasley in the Montrose goalscoring stakes with eight goals from midfield with a number coming from his trademark free kicks and long range efforts has over twenty five goals for the club the best one surely his goal against Edinburgh City last season from inside his own half which was nominated for the SPFL and the SPFA goal of the season.


JAMIE REDMAN (Midfield)
The experienced 30 year old joined Montrose in the summer from Peterhead having been with the Blue Toon for the past 6 years. Captaining the side last season has they were relegated to league two. Jamie celebrated his first season at Balmoor by winning player of the year and was a stalwart in their league winning side of 2013-14. Last season he made 32 appearances for Jim McInally’s side including both legs of the promotion play off semi-final against the Gable Endies. Having captained the Scottish Universities' side when a student at Edinburgh University, then boss Steven Tweed tried to bring Redman to Links Park in 2009, but the youngster chose instead to join Arbroath, then Brechin before heading north in 2011. Assistant Manager Ross Campbell having known Jamie since 2003 when he was at University.

MARTYN FOTHERINGHAM (Midfield)
Martyn returned to Links Park in May 2017 after a ten year spell with Forfar Athletic which ended with a testimonial match against Dundee and helping the Loons safely back into League One via the play offs. A product of the St Johnstone youth scheme, Martyn had a spell on loan at Brechin City before joining Montrose in 2005 when Henry Hall took him to Links Park. He then had a season at Cowdenbeath before the then Forfar Athletic manager Jim Moffat took him to Station Park in 2007. Martyn was the Loons' longest serving player at Station Park until his departure. A great midfield playmaker he is also is great with set pieces and penalty kicks. Age 33.

TERRY MASSON (Midfield)
Now in his eighth season at Links Park Terry is the longest serving player at the club after joining in June 2010 from junior side Carnoustie Panmure. He played for both Dundee and Dundee United before the 28 year old moved to his home town side Arbroath. He spent two seasons at Gayfield making 4 starts and 16 substitute appearances before moving to Carnoustie Panmure. Brechin City brought Masson on board for the final stages of season 2009/10 and Masson was regular off the bench as the Glebe Park side reached the Play-Off Final. Terry picked up a knee injury on his Montrose debut at Dens Park against Dundee in August 2010 and didn’t play again until January 2011. Has featured over 200 times including over 40 last season for the Gable Endies scoring over 20 goals. Can play in a variety of positions including right back and central midfield and never lets the side down.

GRAHAM WEBSTER (Midfield)
Graham made over forty appearances for Montrose during season 2016/17 before signing a fresh two year contract. The previous season he hit ten goals for Montrose when making over thirty appearances in his wide right position. Webby joined Montrose in July 2013 from Dundee after a successful pre-season trial and made over 35 appearances in his first season at Links Park. He was a member of Dundee's Under 19 squad and with Dundee in administration and relying on youth Webster made his first team debut on 10 April 2011 against Stirling Albion from the start. He made two further appearances that season one as a substitute and played the full 90 minutes on the closing day of the season. Graham didn’t make any appearances in the Premier League that season. Can play in a wide role or in central midfield. Had a brief spell on loan to Carnoustie Panmure in season 14/15 but was quickly recalled by manager Paul Hegarty. Made his 100th Montrose appearance in a 1 – 0 victory over Edinburgh City. Age 24.


LIAM CALLAGHAN (Midfield)
Liam signed for Montrose in January 2017 on a contract until the end of the season and signed a fresh deal in the summer. The 22 year old from Kelty came through the youth ranks at Cowdenbeath during which time he trialled at Birmingham City. Eventually breaking into the Blue Brazil first team, Liam made 26 appearances before moving to Gayfield last summer. Despite featuring 13 times last season for our Angus neighbours, most of these were from the bench and when Mo boss Stewart Petrie came calling, Dick Campbell was persuaded to give the youngster a chance at Links Park. He is naturally left sided and can play both in defence and across midfield. Liam comes from a family with a strong footballing pedigree with his father Willie having played for Montrose in the 90's, his grandfather Willie Snr having played for Scotland in the 60's and his grandfathers brother, Tommy having played for Celtic in the 70's.

KIERAN THOMSON (Midfield)
17 year old product of the Montrose FC Club Academy set up. Kieran has spent two seasons with Club Academy before catching the eye of the Montrose management team in the pre season friendlies. Midfield play maker Kieran made his Montrose debut as a substitute in the Betfred Cup tie against Easter Road and started Montrose’s first league two fixture of the season against Edinburgh City. Big things are expected from Kieran who will also continue to play at Club Academy level this season.

CONNOR McLAREN (Forward)
Connor joined Montrose on a short term contract in July after his release from St Johnstone but has now had that extended to the end of season 2017/18. Can play up front or on either flank Connor also had loan spells with Elgin City and Stirling Albion during his time at Perth. Scored his first Montrose goal in the opening day of the season victory over Edinburgh City.

GARY FRASER (Forward)
Gary joined Montrose in the summer of 2015 and went onto finish the season with 19 goals from 39 matches. Last season he added a further 12 goals to that tally as he finished joint top scorer with Chris Templeman.. He picked up the Players Player of the Year, Top goalscorer and Junior Fans Favourite awards for season 2015/16 as well as finished third in the League Two scoring charts. A real find by the Montrose management team, Fraser showed some great finishing during the season with some stunning strikes with both feet in and around the penalty area. The 30-year-old, was previously of Celtic and Rangers, made 26 appearances for Forfar Athletic in season 2006/07, scoring twice before being given a two year deal by the Station Park side at the end of that season. Fraser left Forfar Athletic in 2008 to join Dundee Violet before having spells with junior sides Dundee Downfield, Kinnoull juniors, Montrose Roselea, Broughty Athletic and Perth based junior side Jeanfield Swifts from whom he joined the Gable Endies. Recently had a spell on loan with Arbroath.

ROSS CAMPBELL (Forward)
Goalscorer Ross joined Montrose in January 2015 from East Fife and his now assistant player manager  at Links Park. He started his career with East of Scotland League side Spartans before spending six goal laden seasons at Forfar Athletic, where he played alongside his brother Iain under the guidance of father Dick. Scored six goals for Montrose in season 2014/15 and five last season when he missed only missed one match. Somewhat a versatile player Ross played at left back, centre half, midfield and upfront for the Gable Endies During season 2015/16. His appearances now are usually from the substitutes bench.

CHRIS TEMPLEMAN (Forward)
Chris joined Montrose until the end of the season 2015/16 after his release by Forfar Athletic in January 2016; this deal was quickly extended to the end of season 2016/17 by the Montrose management team.
Templeman left Forfar Athletic after a 7 year spell during which time he scored 68 goals in 268 appearances.
Gable Endies gaffer Paul Hegarty wasted no time in adding the 6' 5" front man to his youthful squad. Templeman began his career with Dunfermline in 1997, and after loan spells with Stirling Albion and Dumbarton, joined Brechin in 2001. He helped the Glebe Park side win the Third Division title in 2002 before a move to Morton in December 2004. Released by Morton in early 2008, Chris joined East Fife before moving to Angus the following year. Scored twelve goals last season as he helped Montrose into the end of season promotion play offs and signed up for another season in May. Age 37.


KERR HAY (Forward)

A January 2017 deadline day arrival from Forfar Athletic on an 18 month deal that ended a month long chase for the player. The 21 year old forward is a product of the Station Park youth system and was a member of their successful 2014/2015 Under 20s Development League side. Breaking into the first team, Kerr made his debut against Ayr United in May 2015 in SPFL League One and scored his first senior goal in the Championship Playoff Semi Final against Stranraer in the same season. Having spent the first half of last season on loan to Junior outfit Broughty United, Kerr returned to The Loons at Christmas, but failed to force his way into Gary Bollan’s plans. Manager Petrie worked with Kerr at Broughty Athletic and Forfar and was impressed with both his ability and potential. Hay made his debut as a substitute against Stirling Albion in a 2 –  1 win. Ended the season with four goals for Montrose.

CRAIG JOHNSTON (Forward)
Craig joined Montrose in May from Cowdenbeath days after helping the Central Park side preserve their place in League football. A prolific scorer for the under 19s over the last few seasons who broke into the first team squad in 2014. He originally joined Cowden as a 10 year old back in August 2005 before switching to Dunfermline Athletic in March 2007. Craig made his Montrose debut in a Betfred Cup tie against Hibernian and teams up at Links Park with his cousin Liam Callaghan

DANNY CAVANAGH (Forward)
Danny returned to Links Park in the summer from Broughty Athletic having first been on the clubs books in 2014/15 when he was signed from Lochee United. Cavanagh originally started his career with Dundee and after leaving Links Park had spells with Dundee Downfield and Tayport before joining Broughty Athletic. Also had a spell in Austrialia. Made eight appearances during his first spell at Montrose. Age 23

Coaching Staff

STEWART PETRIE (Manager)
The 46 year old, currently Assistant Manager at local Junior Super League side Broughty Athletic, joins the Gable Endies at a crucial time with the Angus club propping up League 2.
The Dundee born Scot’s playing career spanned 19 years and 500 games with experience gained both at home and abroad in Australia and Singapore. Stewart started his career with Forfar Athletic before moving onto Dunfermline Athletic and Ross County player
Spending much of his career at Dunfermline, the left midfielder managed a goal ratio of one every six games and is best remembered for scoring a crucial goal in the penultimate game of the 1995/96 season which effectively won Dunfermline the league championship and with it promotion back to the Scottish Premier League.
Moving into coaching in 2009, Stewart spent time at Angus neighbours Forfar and Arbroath as Assistant Manager before joining Keith Gibson at Broughty Athletic in the summer of 2016.

ROSS CAMPBELL (Player/Assistant Manager)
Goalscorer Ross joined Montrose in January 2015 from East Fife and his now assistant player manager  at Links Park. He started his career with East of Scotland League side Spartans before spending six goal laden seasons at Forfar Athletic, where he played alongside his brother Iain under the guidance of father Dick. JIM BUTTER (Goalkeeping Coach)

Jim Butter is now his fifth spell at Montrose this time as goalkeeping coach. Having left Links Park last April he returned in December 2016 to form part of new manager Stewart Petrie’s backroom staff. He rejoined the Gable Endies in the summer of 2003 from East Fife after helping the Fifers to a place in Division Two having left Montrose for Bayview in 2002.
Jim started his career with Blairgowrie Juniors, before having spells with St Johnstone, Alloa Athletic, Queen of the South, Montrose, Brechin City, East Stirlingshire, Montrose and East Fife.
Since leaving Links Park Jim has had coaching positions with Arbroath, Lochee United and Alloa Athletic whom he left in the summer of 2015.
