BROWN EXTENDS GABLE ENDIES CONTRACT

Montrose FC have extended the contract of Craig Brown for a further 2 years, keeping the talented midfielder at Links Park until the summer of 2025.

Brown initially signed a pre-contract with the Gable Endies back in April 2021, becoming the fourth promising youngster to be plucked from University football by Stewart Petrie’s side, following in the footsteps of Blair Lyons, Robbie McGale and Aidan Quinn.

Making an impressive 20 appearances in the first half of last season, albeit mainly from the bench, the 24 year old spent the remainder of the campaign on loan at Lowland League outfit Spartans FC, where starting all 9 of his appearances, Craig managed 1 Man of the Match award, 1 goal and 2 assists.

Returning to first team action this term for the Mighty Mo, grandson of namesake and former Scotland international manager, Craig has featured 28 times and netted 5 goals, including his first for the Club against Partick Thistle back in July in the Premier Sports Cup.

Stewart said, “We are delighted Craig has committed the next two years of his career to the Club. We knew he had great potential when he arrived and I believe we are just starting to see this breakthrough. His pace, control, energy and creativity in the middle of the park are a real threat, borne out by the fact he is currently amongst our top scorers this season. We look forward to watching his development continue over the coming months.”
