Montrose FC have confirmed that the season long loan of defender Evan Towler from Aberdeen FC has been terminated early by mutual agreement, due to the 18 year old’s ongoing injury situation.

The talented Dons Youth Academy graduate arrived at Links Park last Summer and played for the Gable Endies in their Viaplay Cup matches at home to Forfar Athletic and away to Cowdenbeath in July.

Unfortunately, since then a series of injuries have sidelined the left sided central defender and both clubs now agree it’s in the players best interests to allow him to focus on his recovery at his parent club.

Montrose Manager Stewart Petrie said, “We are so sorry for Evan that things didn’t work out as planned. He is a talented boy and initially it looked like he was going to do really well for us. Injuries are of course part and parcel of the game, but Evan has been extremely unlucky over the last few months, suffering subsequent injuries each time he neared a return to fitness.

“We wish Evan a speedy recover and all the best for the future and would like to thank Barry, Neil and all at Pittodrie for making the loan happen.”
