Montrose FC have agreed a one year contract extension with Michael Gardyne, keeping the highly experienced midfielder at Links Park until the summer of 2025.

Since arriving from Inverness Caledonian Thistle in January 2022, Gardyne has made 72 appearances for Stewart Petrie’s side and scored 8 goals.

The Dundee born midfielder began his career as a youth at Celtic in 2004, before embarking on a record breaking 15-year stint over two spells with Ross County.

By the time he left Dingwall in 2021, the 37-year-old had won the Challenge Cup, the Second Division title, the League Cup, promotion to the Premiership and a Scottish Cup runners-up medal as well as becoming the Clubs record goal scorer with 74 and record appearance holder with 444 games.

Petrie said, “We are delighted Michael has agreed to give us another year. His form and quality this season has been excellent, bringing real experience, determination and energy to the middle of the park.”
