After a lifetime of commitment, the time has now come for our Number 10, Charlotte Gammie to take a step back from the football pitch and enjoy life without the significant demands of the professional game.

Gammie, who is one of the “Mo originals” and has passionately dedicated herself to the club for so many years, will be a player whose name will forever be woven into the history of Montrose FC.

Charlotte said ” Wow, where do I even begin? Having been a Montrose girl who started with Montrose FC youth as the only girl in the team to where I am today. 6 Seasons later, 144 appearances, 141 goals, 3 promotions and securing top flight status for 2024/25, I sit here looking back at just how amazing my journey in a Montrose jersey has been. Today is a difficult day for me, as I play my final game at Links Park, the place I call home. Playing for Montrose FCW has been a tremendous honour. During my six seasons at Montrose, I have always pursued success and boy have we done just that! But what all of those moments and experiences have taught me is that, while winning is fantastic and losing is unbearable, it’s actually the people you share those times with that keeps you going. Reflecting back on my career, and all that was required to make me the player I am today, reminds me of the many people I owe sincere gratitude to. You all know who you are!

To end my career here, at Montrose, where it all began all those years ago feels like perfect symmetry. Thank you for helping me love the game and for the endless support over the years, to every single person who has been with me along the way. Montrose is forever in my blood and in my heart. To the place I call home, thank you for the memories, once a Mo, always a Mo!”

Manager Craig Feroz added “They say all good things must come to an end, and there is nothing truer in this case. Although Charlotte could play another couple of seasons at least , when she came and told me her decision to retire, I thought for her the timing was perfect. Char has been with me since the beginning and she has achieved more than I think either of us ever thought was possible. Char has not only been my player but also like part of my family. I have so many fond memories of her flying down the wing , and these will stay with me for a long time. Char is a true Montrose legend and I thank her for every drop of sweat she ever gave me and the team, and I wish her health and happiness in the future.”

We wish you all the very best Charlotte. You know you will always be welcome at Links Park!
