Montrose FC Women are delighted to announce the signing of striker Freya Brien on loan from Hearts Women for the 2025/26 season.

Freya becomes the first of three players to arrive from the capital side this summer, as Montrose continue to strengthen their squad ahead of the new campaign.

The powerful forward is no stranger to the women in blue, having spent last season on loan with local rivals Dundee United. Her performances in the SWPL didn’t go unnoticed, catching the eye with her athleticism, strength, and goal threat.

On the international stage, Freya has represented Scotland with distinction, earning five caps for the U16s and a further two appearances for the U17s, highlighting her pedigree as one of the country’s brightest young talents.

Speaking on the new addition, Montrose FC Women manager Feroz said

“Freya is a player I am really looking forward to working with. She has all the physical attributes as well as the technical ability to be a top player for years to come. We obviously saw her up close last season and she will cause other teams lots of problems going forward.”
