MIGHTY MO MAKE SWIFT MOVE FOR TAYLOR

Having moved quickly, Montrose FC are delighted to announce the signing of young prospect Taylor Sutherland, on a short 6-month deal, following his departure from Dunfermline Athletic only yesterday.

The 20-year-old forward joins the Gable Endies after progressing through the youth ranks in Fife before gaining valuable senior experience at both League Two and Championship level.

Originally from Cowdenbeath, Sutherland’s football journey began with 6 years in the Fife Football Performance Academy, a spell that ultimately earned a move to Dunfermline Athletic in 2021.

The young centre forward made headlines early in his career, scoring on his first-team debut for the Pars in the Challenge Cup against Celtic B in November 2022. The following month, and having just turned 17, Taylor signed his first full-time professional contract with Dunfermline.

Since then, the young attacker has made over 30 appearances for the Pars and enjoyed half season loan spells with both Bonnyrigg Rose and most recently Clyde, where he made 19 appearances, scored 5 goals and provided 2 assists.

Montrose Manager Stewart Petrie was pleased to secure Sutherland’s signature, saying, “Taylor is a player we’ve had our eye on for some time. He’s young but already has good experience at senior level. He’s got pace, energy, and an eye for goal, and we believe Montrose is the right environment for him to continue his development and make a real impact.”

Speaking after putting pen to paper, Sutherland added, “I am delighted to be joining Montrose and can’t wait to get started. I have only heard good things about the place, and I am looking forward to showing the fans what I can bring to the club and hopefully push us up the table.

“I look forward to seeing the fans and playing my football at Montrose now.”
