CHRIS BECOMES NEW MIGHTY MO SPORTS SCIENTIST AS STUART DEPARTS
Chris Simpson has joined the Montrose FC Management Team as Sports Scientist, replacing the recently departed Stuart MacFarlane.
Chris has an MSc in Strength and Conditioning as well as being a UK Accredited Strength and Conditioning Coach, and brings many years of experience to the Angus Club, having worked across many sports and at many elite levels.
The search for a replacement came due to MacFarlane having to relinquish his part-time duties at Links Park following Kilmarnock, his full time employer’s promotion back to the Premiership in May.
Manager, Stewart Petrie said of the appointment, “We are delighted to have secured the services of someone of the calibre of Chris so quickly. Losing Stuart was a bit of a shock and I would like to sincerely thank him for all his efforts over the last 5 years. He was part of a special and successful time here and we all wish him every success for the future.
“Moving forward, we are all excited to see what Chris will bring to the team. As well as working in football, he has also coached across rugby, golf, athletics and ice skating, so has both great depth and breadth of experience.
Looking forward to the challenge, Chris added, “Montrose is a special club, from the work they actively do within the local community to the progress and success they have had over recent years on the pitch.
“The club is built on core values and having the opportunity to work with Stewart, Ross Campbell, Iain Campbell, Sean Dillon, the support staff and the players was too good a prospect not to be involved with.”
