RENNIE MAKES 100th APPEARANCE FOR GABLE ENDIES
Montrose FC forward Martin Rennie made his 100th appearance for the Club recently, having been made to wait almost a whole season to do so.
A hernia injury suffered following his 99th appearance in the first league game of last season, side-lined the 28 year old striker for an agonising and frustrating 9 months, recovering just in time for the final league game of the campaign, away to Alloa Athletic back in April.
The Kirkcaldy born front man initially netted 20 times in 74 appearances for Stewart Petrie’s side after joining from Junior side Lochgelly Albert in January 2018, and the Mo faithful will forever remember his vital assist to Jamie Redman’s league winning goal against Elgin.
Attracting interest from far afield, Martin went on to become the Clubs first ever international transfer, moving across the Irish Sea to full time football with Premier Division outfit, St Patrick’s Athletic FC in January 2020.
However, hindered greatly by the onset soon after, of the pandemic lockdown, things didn’t quite work out and Petrie acted quickly to bring Rennie back to Links Park, where he is currently contracted until January next year.
Petrie said, “I am delighted to see him reach this milestone. He has worked so hard and had such a tough time recently, sitting out so long with injury. I know the form he is capable of and we all hope he can kick on from here, play many more games, and get back to that level.”
