GABLE ENDIES SECURE SECOND LYONS LOAN DEAL FROM JAGS
Montrose FC have agreed terms with Partick Thistle for the return of Blair Lyons on a season long loan until the summer of 2022
The talented youngster first arrived at Links Park in the summer of 2019 from Lowland League side University of Stirling, adapting naturally to the step up to League 1 with 7 goals in his first 27 appearances.
His impact and ability understandably drew widespread attention in the January transfer window of 2020, and a substantial deal was struck with the then Championship side Partick Thistle, that included an immediate loan back for the reminder of the 2019/20 campaign.
Blair went on to take his goal tally to 10 and his appearances to 32, lifting both the Clubs Young Player of the Year and Top Goalscorer awards, before the pandemic drew the season to an abrupt halt, sending him back to Firhill for what was to play out as an unprecedented summer, ending in relegation for the Jags.
The shortened and stop start nature of the season just past proved difficult for the 24 year old to establish himself within Ian McCall’s plans and with Thistle heading back to the Championship, a loan move seemed the perfect move for his ongoing development.
Manager Stewart Petrie said, “I am delighted to be welcoming Blair back for the coming season. He was so influential in our top four finish in 2019/20 and I am sure he can have a similar impact again.”

Season tickets for 2021/22 covering all HOME SPFL League, Premier Sports Cup group stage and pre-season friendly matches will, initially, be available for conventional ground entry only as current restrictions continue to prevent the use of members lounges.
As was the case last year, access to live streaming will once again be included in the Adult and Concession season ticket packages.
Ground Prices (for those renewing): Adult £180, Concessions £100 (Concessions are OAP’s, Full Time Students and Disabled)
As a further gesture, those holding U18 and U12 Season Tickets from last year will have these automatically renewed, free of charge.
For those purchasing a new Season Ticket, prices will be, Ground: Adult £240, Concessions £130, U18 £85 and U12 £20
Tickets will be available on-line at the Clubs website www.montrosefc.co.uk from Monday 31st May.
Chairman John Crawford said, “I would like to once again sincerely thank all those who supported us through what was an unprecedented season. The late start in October, the break from January to March, the fixture congestion to complete the league and then the heartbreak of the play-offs made for another unforgettable campaign.
“I know how frustrating it has been for fans, not being able to attend games, but thankfully our new streaming service has been able to provide at least an opportunity for our faithful to stay as close to the action as was allowable. Let’s hope we are now heading in the right direction and we can see a return to normality very soon.
“The achievement last season of Stewart, his staff and the players was nothing short of incredible. That is now 5 consecutive top four finishes since Stewart walked in the door and after taking Morton to the last minute of extra time, our play-off progress continues to improve. We should all be rightly proud and excited as we look forward to the next chapter of our journey.
“I really hope this continued success and positivity around the town will encourage more people to join SP’s Barmy Army."
Previous Willie Johnston Lounge members are encouraged once again to purchase Ground Entry season tickets. As and when restrictions are lifted enough to allow the return of member lounges, the Club will look to offer upgrades where possible.
