MIGHTY MO AGREE LOAN DEAL FOR EXPERIENCED KEATINGS
Montrose FC have signed experienced Raith Rovers striker James Keatings on loan until January, significantly strengthening Stewart Petrie’s attacking options.
The Glasgow born forward, who came through the Celtic youth academy, has played for St Johnstone, Hamilton Academical, Heart of Midlothian, Hibernian, Dundee United and Inverness Caledonian Thistle, as well as representing his country at under-16, 17 and 19 level.
Having scored 65 goals in 245 games across Scotland’s top two divisions, James first tasted success in 2014, winning promotion to the Premier League with Hamilton, before winning the Championship with first Hearts in 2015, and again with Hibs in 2017.
In between his title wins, the 29 year old came off the bench at Hampden in 2016, making history with Hibs as they dramatically beat Rangers in added time to lift their first Scottish Cup in 114 years.
Despite a strong start this season, the Gable Endies have lacked attacking options thus far with Russell McLean moving on in the summer and Martin Rennie being side-lined through injury since the start of August.
Manager Stewart Petrie said, “James is a hugely experienced striker and I am delighted he has agreed to join us.
We have had to be patient in our search to strengthen the squad, but I am convinced it has been worth the wait and I am looking forward to working with him.”
