SKELLY JOINS BROUGHTY ATHLETIC
Montrose forward Josh Skelly has been sold to East Region Super League side Broughty Athletic following a request from the 22-year-old to leave the Gable Endies for personal reasons.
Skelly arrived at Links Park from Arbroath in May 2018 as Manager Stewart Petrie’s first signing following the Gable Endies Ladbrokes League 2 title win.
Limited to cup appearances at the start of last season, the former Dundee front man struggled with injury and in an effort to regain fitness spent time on loan at League Two Cowdenbeath before ending the season on loan at Broughty, finishing as top scorer with over twenty goals.
Despite starting this campaign looking sharper and netting both against Forfar at home in the Betfred Cup and Falkirk away in the league, the striker requested the move, citing personal reasons and Petrie was not going to stand in his way.
The Manager said, “We are obviously really disappointed to see Josh go. He had a tough time last year but worked extremely hard during his loan spells and over the summer and looked to be back to his best recently.
“We understand his reasons for requesting the move and we wish him all the best for the future.”
