STEEVES MARKS 200TH APPEARANCE FOR MIGHTY MO
Andrew Steeves has reached the impressive milestone of 200 appearances for Montrose FC, becoming the fourth member of the current squad to do so.
It was indeed a Happy New Year for the 25 year old, as prior to taking to the pitch against East Fife on Jan 4th, he won his first Ladbrokes Award, being named League 1 Player of the Month for December, capping a great run of form with 3 goals in 4 games.
The ex-St Johnstone man arrived at Links Park, initially on loan from Forfar Athletic in March 2015 and penned a permanent deal the following season.
Since then, the full back has gone from strength to strength, regularly winning various club awards, but his greatest feat was playing every minute of every league game in 2017/18, as Stewart Petrie’s side made history lifting the Ladbrokes League 2 title for the first time in 33 years, with Andrew making the SPFL Team of the Year.
Petrie said, “Andrew is a true professional, a great guy and a pleasure to work with week to week. I am not surprised at all that he has reached 200 games, as he is unboubtedly one of the best left back in the league and his recent recognition as Player of the Month was thoroughly deserved. He is exactly the calibre of player we want at the club and I believe he will go on and make over 300 appearances for Montrose.”
Andrew joins Terry Masson, Paul Watson and Graham Webster as the youngest member of the prestigious 200+ club.
Co-Vice Chairman Peter Stuart presented Andrew with his 200th Appearance trophy.
