George Shields (Manager)

George ShieldsGeorge was appointed the manager at Links Park in May 2014 after a succesful spell as caretaker boss. Dundee based Shields as been coach and assistant manager at Links Park before his appointment into the hot seat. George who has been in charge of junior side Dundee Violet has also been in charge of youth development at Montrose. He started his career at Dundee United as a youth before he signed for Dundee 1973/74 had short spells with Arbroath and Forfar Athletic before playing for various junior teams with Dundee St Josephs being the most successful as player when he was capped for Scotland juniors. George then managed the Joey’s to a clean sweep of domestic honours in the 1997/98 season. He coached youths at Dundee United, Dundee and he then became Head of Youth and first team coach at Brechin City winning the league with Dick and Ian Campbell. George then managed Dundee Violet before joining Montrose as Head of Youth and first team coach.


Lee Wilkie (Assistant Manager)

Lee WilkieFormer Scotland internationalist Lee was appointed Montrose assistant manager in May 2014 for the second time after spening a year with Lochee United. Was previously assistant to Stuart Garden in season 2012/13. 34 year old Lee spent the majority of his playing career with Dundee and during his time at Dens Park he had short loan spells in England with Plymouth Argyle and Notts County plus nine games with Falkirk. Between 2002 and 2003 he won 11 international caps for Scotland the last coming in the 6 – 0 defeat against the Netherlands in November 2003. Wilkie suffered serious anterior cruciate ligament injuries in January 2004 and in April 2005 but continued to play on after building up the muscles to compensate for the lack of ligament. He joined Dundee United in 2006 and after a spell with Ross County, he led the team out as captain in the 2008 Scottish League Cup Final. He signed a new three year contract with United in 2009 but announced his retirement in April 2010 due to   sustained knee problems. As well as being an agent he also wrote for the Dundee Evening Telegraph and coached the Dundee Under 19 side. During his career he made over 200 appearances.
