FAN LINKS STRENGTHENED AT LINKS PARK WITH APPOITNMENT OF SUPPORTER LIAISON OFFICERS
Montrose FC have appointed Kevin Watson and Stephen McCallum as the clubs first official Supporter Liaison Officers (SLO), a role backed by UEFA and designed to ensure all fans have a dedicated point of contact with the club.
The SLO is an independent position, with unique access to the Board of Directors, allowing fans both within the existing Supporters Club and those out with, to put their thoughts and views forward on any subject they wish.
To kick things off, Kevin and Stephen will hold an open meeting on Tuesday 23rd October at Links Park, with all Mighty Mo fans invited to attend.
Lifelong Gable Endies fans, both Kevin and Stephen have served on the Supporters Club committee for the last 3 years, an experience they hope will stand them in good stead to fulfil what they see as a very important role for the football club going forward.
Stephen said, “I have become an SLO to help bring the supporters and the club closer together, so the football club that means everything to us all runs smoothly.”
Kevin added, “As a coach with Montrose Youth, I know from the kids in our team that the love for football in the town just now is buzzing and hopefully we can help push this on even further, bring everyone that little bit closer and continue to help make the club a success.
“I am truly honoured to accept this role and I know Stephen is too and we can’t wait to get started.”
Club Chairman John Crawford said, “I am delighted Kevin and Stephen have agreed to become our SLO’s. More and more clubs are creating this position, with positive things coming from it as a result.
“We pride ourselves on being a community club, and whilst we fully respect and appreciate the work of our Supporters Club, we recognise our fan base extends beyond this. It is important therefore that our SLO’s are independent and able to represent all of our supporters.”
