Arbroath 2 Montrose 2Montrose Football Club and league leaders Arbroath will have it all to do again this coming Saturday after they shared four goals in an end to end William Hill Scottish Cup second round tie at Gayfield Park. The Gable Endies coming from behind twice to grab a deserved second chance.
Arbroath took an early lead at Gayfield before Montrose fought back to equalise, the home side regained the lead before the Gable Endies once again came up with an equaliser through a raking Paul Watson free kick it was no more than they deserved.
Once George Shields men had equalised for a second time it looked like they would go on and win the match and had a great chance to do so in stoppage time only for Crawford in the home goal to deny Stephen Day.
The draw kept up Montrose’s impressive record of never having lost a Scottish Cup tie at Gayfield.
The replay on Saturday will mean that the sides will play each other three times alone in the month of October.

135th AnniversaryIn two weeks time on 13th October 2014 it is the official 135th Anniversary day of Montrose Football Club. It was that date in 1879 when the motion was passed in the old Town Hall to play by Association rules and thus join the ever increasing number of football clubs in Scotland. As a result we would then be playing properly organised football against other clubs within agreed SFA rules albeit still 'friendly' games until we joined the Northern League in 1891
Away Travelv Berwick Rangers, 11th October, Kick Off 3pm
Road: From the A1 go around Berwick and continue crossing the River Tweed. Then take the left turn towards Spittal (B6354). After one mile, you will reach the entrance to the ground on your left. There is a large car park at the rear of the ground. You will enter the main turnstiles at the top of the car park. As you enter, on your immediate left is the club shop and snack van. Away supporters are normally accommodated in either the main stand or the terracing. Disabled supporters are asked to contact Berwick Rangers FC in advance, if possible.
Train: A train leaves Montrose at 9:46 with it arriving in Edinburgh Waverley at 11:28. Due to engineering works taking place on the line between Edinburgh and Berwick-Upon-Tweed you will need to catch a replacement bus service. This departs Edinburgh Waverley at 12:08, arriving in Berwick-Upon-Tweed at 13:28. The ground is about a 20 minute walk from the station. As you leave the station car park, turn right and follow the road around to the left (the opposite direction to the traffic flow on a one-way street). Turn right into Castlegate (this is the main road into town). Go under the archway of the old town walls and you will come across a mini-roundabout that is opposite to the bus station. Turn right and cross the Royal Tweed Bridge. You are now in Tweedmouth. At the other end of the bridge just follow the road as it curves around to the left, passing a school and a Co-op superstore. Just after that you will come across a railway viaduct. Turn right here into Shielfield Terrace and the ground is 150-200 yards down on your right. For coming home a bus leaves Berwick-Upon-Tweed at 17:30, arriving at Edinburgh Waverley at 19:00. From here you can catch a train back to Montrose, departing at 19:28 and arriving in Montrose at 21:13.
