COVID-19 BUSINESS ADVICE - MURRAY TAYLOR
Some very valuable advice for businesses courtesy of one of our must trusted partners Murray Taylor Chartered Certified Accountants
CORONAVIRUS UPDATE & BUSINESS ADVICE
During what will be difficult times for the majority of businesses, we wanted to provide you with an update and potentially useful information for your business.
We hope that all of our clients and their families remain safe and well first and foremost, and this of course applies to us at Murray, Taylor and the need to look after the wellbeing of our own staff.
As such, we have decided to offer our staff flexible working hours, as well as the option of working at home. There will still be members of staff who elect to work in our offices. Due to this, we have taken the decision for the protection of all of our staff to postpone internal and external client meetings, until Monday 6th April, at which point we will review the situation and update our clients at that point. We will of course be available for you wherever possible, the office phones will continue to be answered during our normal working hours, and we will respond to emails as usual. If you need to deliver information to us or collect anything from us, please call the office and we will make suitable arrangements with you. Rest assured, we will continue to do all we can to support your business.
Following the UK budget announcement last week, one of the main headlines relating to the Coronavirus outbreak was that of rates relief and potential access to grants for businesses. The rates relief and grant specifically related to businesses based in England, as rates are set by the devolved governments.
Shortly thereafter, the Scottish Government also announced similar measures to support businesses during this time. This also includes rates relief and grants for small businesses in sectors facing the worst economic impact of the Coronavirus.
ACAS (The Advisory, Conciliation and Arbitration Service) are offering advice for employers and employees, including what happens if employees cannot come to work due to self-isolation measures etc. - https://www.acas.org.uk/coronavirus.
This includes advice on paying statutory sick pay to employees, with the Government also introducing measures to refund statutory sick pay to businesses, for employers with fewer than 250 employees and the refund will be for up to two weeks sick pay per employee.
HMRC have also provided a helpline for any business who may struggle to pay their taxes if affected by Coronavirus, if you have any concerns regarding paying any of your taxes on time, please refer to the link below
We hope that the above may be useful for you in these challenging times, and let us all hope that we can all return to some sort of normality as soon as possible. We are of course here to support you when you need us, please do not hesitate to get in touch with us to discuss any of the above further, or any other concerns you may have.
ALL PITCH HIRES SUSPENDED!
The Scottish FA yesterday announced the following:
‘’Each club, regardless of whether professional or recreational, has the responsibility to make decisions that keep its players, coaches, support staff and other employees safe. PFA Scotland has issued its own guidance to players and we are committed to supporting our members with individual advice.
Having taken medical advice, the Scottish FA Board recommends that no training or conditioning in groups should take place for the time being. This recommendation covers all levels of the game. Further updates on this will be given as and when further medical advice is received.’’
Alongside our shared responsibility to encourage social distancing, we are not accepting hires, whether it be for competitive and/or recreational football, until further notice, in an attempt to protect the welfare of our staff, volunteers, facility users and the wider community.
Following today’s guidance from the SPFL, our league games have been cancelled for the foreseeable future.
Whilst we fully support this approach, the loss of income resulting from these cancellations is an obvious concern to the ongoing financial stability of the Club.
We would like to to thank at this point all those who have intimated their willingness to support the Club at this unprecedented time.
Additionally, we wish to reassure all MO fans out there that the Board of Directors are fully committed and determined to steer the Club through these difficult times.
We hope to get clarity as the week progresses as to when we are likely to recommence fixtures.
At that point we will be able to share our thoughts on how you, the MO faithful can best help us in our hour of need.
For now, please stay safe, continue to follow governmental advice and hopefully we can get back watching and cheering on the boys very soon.
