Montrose 1 Arbroath 5MONTROSE slipped to their second derby defeat in the space of a fortnight, shipping five goals and having their goalkeeper sent off for the second successive match.
Arbroath went in to the half time break with a 1-0 lead thanks to a 17 minute strike from former Montrose youngster Simon Murray and Carreiro added a second shortly after the break. Garry Wood gave Montrose some hope of a fightback when he converted a penalty in the 56th minute, but Arbroath goalkeeper David Crawford extended the visitors lead again, scoring from a wind assisted free kick. Montrose's afternoon went from bad to worse six minutes from the end, Birnstingl shown a straight red card for a foul on McManus who converted the penalty then added a fifth two minutes into stoppage time.

New Loan SigningMontrose Manager George Shields has strengthened his squad following the signing of 19 year old Defender Adam Harwood who has joined on loan from Dundee United until January 23rd 2015. The defender had spells with Portadown and Glenavon in his native Northern Ireland before his move to Tannadice this summer. He has all the qualities required to become a top class defender – pace, aerial prowess, bravery and leadership.
Berwick Rangers 2 Montrose 2
After looking dead and buried in the first half, Paul Watson was able to snatch an injury time winner for Montrose in the mid week match at Shielfield to grab what hopefully may prove to be a vital point in this seasons League 2 promotion race.
Berwick will be kicking themselves for not making the game safe in the first half when Montrose were well below par. It was a better second half but by no means vintage Montrose – yet, it was still a well won point in the end and one which might prove vital come next May.
On the plus side however Montrose did not cave into another five goal toasting at Berwick. At one point in the first half it looked to be heading that way but despite the lack of spark this eventually was a more resilient Montrose which nicked a point in a never say die second half performance.
