Matty Allan and Dale Reid have both left Montrose FC as Manager Paul Hegarty continues to reshape his side in readiness for the second half of the season.
Matty has undergone surgery on an ongoing ankle injury and with his recovery set to last until the end of the season his loan from Dundee FC has been brought to a premature end by mutual consent.
The young defender has made 18 first team appearances since joining the Gable Endies in July and was becoming one of Hegarty's preferred centre halves.
Club Chairman Derek Sim said, "This is disappointing news for both Matty and ourselves. He was doing a great job for us at the back and was developing well with every game.
"At least having the operation now means he will be ready for pre-season training and who knows, we may be fortunate enough to welcome him back on loan next year. We wish Matty a speedy recovery and all the very best."
