Former Dundee Utd legends John Holt, Hamish McAlpine, Morris Malpas, Paul Hegarty, Dave Narey, Jim McInally and Dave Bowman are swapping their football strips for cycling shorts and helmets as they take on a fundraising tour of five football grounds to raise funds for Maggie’s, the charity which provides free practical, emotional and social support for people with cancer and their family and friends.
The team has been organised by John Holt and their 75-mile challenge will begin and end at Dundee United Football Club taking in Arbroath, Montrose, Forfar and Brechin Football Clubs on the way, with the aim of raising £2500 for Maggie’s Dundee.

Any support that you can provide would be greatly appreciated. For example, the information above may be included in a match day program, announced at a home game or added to the club website. The group are expected to arrive at Montrose Football Club at approximately 12 noon on Sunday 3rd May and everyone is welcome to come and see their arrival should they wish to show their support.
Montrose Football Club's promotion winning squad of season 1994/95 were in attendance at the recent home match against Elgin City when they were celebrating 20 years since that successful season. The side clinched promotion from the third division with a 4 - 0 success over Cowdenbeath at Central Park on 6th May thanks to a hat trick from the late Allan Kennedy and Colin McGlashan.
