Montrose Football Club failed to take three points off Berwick Rangers in a must win fixture and now lie eight points behind their opponents at the bottom of the League 2 table with six huge games left to play.
After the highs of the last home fixture and 3 – 0 derby victory over Arbroath it was back to the normal performance by Paul Hegarty’s side on Saturday as they now face a massive battle to claw back anything with time running out on what has been a highly disappointing and poor season.
Berwick Rangers deserved the victory in a match between two poor sides but it wasn’t until the 72nd minute ordering off that the match changed in their favour and a quick one two put the afternoon to bed for Colin Cameron’s side.
Montrose head to East Fife on Saturday looking to take the points from a side who have comprehensively beaten them three times aleady this season.

Albion Rovers 3 Montrose 0

League leaders Albion Rovers proved to be too strong for Montrose Football Club on Saturday as Paul Hegarty’s side failed to build on their derby success over Arbroath the previous week.
The result leaves the Gable Endies five points behind second bottom Berwick Rangers whom they meet in a crucial fixture on Saturday at Links Park.
This was always going to be a difficult fixture on a heavy pitch as Montrose looked to contain their opponents for the opening half but once the home side going a fortunate opening goal close to half time there was only going to be one winner.

Congratulations

Graham Douglas a lifelong Montrose fan and programme contributer for many years will be 60 on 15th March. Congratulations and happy birthday from all your family and friends. As part of his celebrations Graham will be travelling to watch his “other” team Spurs play Manchester United next Sunday.
