GABLE ENDIES OFFER FANS FRONT ROW SEAT FOR COMING SEASON
Crowds at sporting events may still be someway off, but that won’t get in the way of Montrose FC fans enjoying every minute of the action from Links Park, live, and from the comfort of their own homes.
Thanks to the installation of a new, state of the art, streaming system over the summer, supporters will be able to watch all the Gable Endies home matches as they happen.
Operations Manager, Davey Byrne, explained, “Covid restrictions will, naturally, greatly effect are normal income for the season ahead, and so we have had to adapt quickly to other options. The Championship were already lined up to have a Pixellot system installed at each ground, and when we looked into it, we felt it was a great fit for our needs also to provide a pay-per-view facility for games.”
Utilising the latest technology, the Pixellot system comprises four fixed cameras, contained in a ‘shoe box’ size enclosure. These four images are electronically stitched together, providing a seamless, panoramic view of the pitch, and Artificial Intelligence software, working in the background, automatically provides the panning and zooming to follow all the action up and down the park. This live feed is then beamed into the cloud and made available to users via an online platform.
Davey added, “We have been trialling the system with our pre-season fixtures and things are going really well. It’s not quite Sky Sports yet, and we know some of our fans have had problems, but we are working through these teething issues and would ask folks to bear with us as we are learning all the time on how to make the system better.
“We also hope to have live commentary in place for our Betfred fixture against Ross County tomorrow, which will be a further enhancement.”
Season Ticket holders will automatically receive all live streams free of charge, with a pay-per-view option available for non-season ticket holders and away fans.
