GABLE ENDIES STOPPER PENS NEW TWO YEAR DEAL
Montrose FC have agreed a 2 year contract extension with Aaron Lennox, keeping the goalie at Links Park until the summer of 2024
The 29 year old has made 55 appearances since arriving from Partick Thistle in the summer of 2019, helping Stewart Petrie’s side secure a hat-trick of top four finishes.
The Australian born goalie started his professional career south of the border in 2011 with Queens Park Rangers, before moving north five years later to spend time at Aberdeen and Raith Rovers before signing on at Firhill.
Assistant Manager, Ross Campbell said, “We are really pleased to have got this deal over the line. Aaron has been very consistent since he arrived and has played a key role in our recent success.”
Looking to now focus on another exciting campaign run-in, the management team will surely feel very content with their recent contract negotiations, which has taken the number of players signed up for next season to 14, including the return of Blair Lyons.

BETTER LATE THAN NEVER FOR GABLE ENDIES LEGEND PRESENTATION
Former Montrose FC player Innes MacDonald was presented with his Hall of Fame certificate and framed caricature recently, a mere 34 months after the induction ceremony.
Unable to attend the Club’s 140th Anniversary dinner in May 2019, when fellow legends Stevie King, Bruce Morrison, Neil Forbes and Jimmy Kemp were also inducted, the intention was for a Club representative to catch up with Innes face to face at the earliest opportunity. However, one thing led to another and then lockdown arrived.
So when Club Ambassador, David Larter recently got the chance to meet up at Northallerton Theatre in Yorkshire, where Innes’s daughter, Lauren is currently playing the lead role in Legally Blonde, it was too good a chance to pass up.
In three spells from 1980 to 1998, MacDonald turned out 247 times for the Gable Endies, scoring 9 goals.
During his second spell, the winger became a star performer, tormenting numerous defences and attracting much interest from other clubs. Airdrie paid £35,000 for his services before he went on to play in Italy and Malta. Returning for his final stint in 1994, he helped the club to promotion.
David said, “It was a pleasure and honour to catch up with Innes and present his certificate. His place in the Hall of Fame is thoroughly deserved and it is really unfortunate how circumstances have led to it taking so long to complete the formalities.”

LYONS AGREES DEAL FOR PERMANENT GABLE ENDIES RETURN
Montrose FC have agreed pre-contract terms with Blair Lyons, paving the way for the talented youngster to return to Links Park in the summer on a permanent 3 year deal.
Currently on a season long loan from Championship outfit Partick Thistle, the 25 year old has made 63 appearances for Stewart Petrie’s men since first arriving in the summer of 2019 from Lowland League side University of Stirling.
Adapting quickly to League 1, scoring 7 goals before Christmas that year, the Jags came knocking with a substantial deal that offered the tricky winger full time football whilst allowing him to play out the season back on loan at Montrose, lifting both the Clubs Young Player of the Year and Top Goalscorer awards in the process.
The shortened and stop, start nature of last season proved difficult for Blair to establish himself within Ian McCall’s plans at Firhill and so ahead of the current campaign, a second loan deal was agreed to ensure his ongoing development.
Understandably taking some time to resettle and regain his confidence, the Gable Endies faithful are now once more starting to enjoy the talent and scoring ability of the Glasgow born youngster, who has netted 5 times in his last 8 appearances.
Petrie said, “We are delighted to have agreed a long term deal with Blair. He is now back to his best and we look forward to seeing much more from him in the seasons ahead.”
