Montrose 1 Dumbarton 1

Montrose took the lead in 24 minutes when CRAIG JOHNSTON fired home a low cross from Graham Webster and the Gable Endies might have gone two up just minutes later when Blair Lyons hit the visitor's right hand post from close range.
The Sons equalised just on the stroke of half-time when JOSHUA OYINSAN turned in a pass from Carlo Pignatiello.
Montrose continued to press early in the second half with Aidan Quinn going close to finding the net.
After 58 minutes a Terry Masson shot was charged down in the penalty box and then minutes later a shot from substitute Lewis Milne was saved by Wright in the Dumbarton goal.
On 66 minutes Graham Webster saw his header saved but the linesman had already flagged for offside.
After 82 minutes a Craig Johnston shot on the turn was saved by Wright.
With Dumbarton apparently happy to settle for a point and Montrose struggling to make a breakthrough the game seemed to be petering out before matters took a dramatic turn in the sixth minute of injury time.
With Montrose substitute Paul Watson driving forward in the visitor's half he was deliberately caught from behind by Sons' Stuart Carswell. The Montrose player retaliated and with fans from both sides expecting to see both players given their matching orders there was considerable surprise when Watson was red-carded and Carswell escaped with a booking from referee Steven Kirkland.
That was not the end of the drama as Dumbarton's Gregor Buchanan was then booked, presumably for giving his view of events to the referee. The Montrose bench were still expressing their outrage at the outcome and the linesman on the stand side called over Mr Kirkland who then red-carded coach Iain Campbell.
So, a game which the Gable Endies might have won comfortably ended in the loss of two points. As all of the promotion contenders dropped points, there was no change at the top of League One and a chance to close the gap on leaders Cove was missed.
