Montrose FC have extended the contract of talented keeper Ross Matthews for a further 2 years, keeping the goalie at Links Park until the summer of 2025.

The 20 year old Academy Graduate, who earned his first pro-contract at the turn of the year has now made 11 appearances for Stewart Petrie’s side and continues to develop and impress with each game.

Ross began his career in the Dundee FC youth system, before joining the Links Park Academy in 2018, where two loan spells at Junior outfit Forfar West End helped him break into the first team, first off the bench against Kilmarnock in the Premier Sports Cup back in July, then making his full debut in January in the league away at Falkirk in front of a crowd of 3,742.

Manager Stewart Petrie said, “Ross has done incredibly well since joining the squad at the start of the year and he will continue to play a big part in our plans going forward. For his age, he is so assured and confident and has never let us down. He is a role model for all our promising Academy players and we are delighted to have secured his services here at Links Park for another 2 years.”
