WELCOME MARTIN
Montrose FC are delighted to announce the appointment of Martin Johnston as their new Operations Manager. Martin joins the Links Park team with a wealth of football operations experience having spent 6 years at Peterhead FC and a short spell at FC Edinburgh carrying out similar roles. More recently he also served a spell as an SPFL Matchday Delegate.
Commenting on the new appointment, Chief Exec Peter Stuart said, “We were delighted to have been able to secure someone with Martin’s pedigree. He arrives at a pivotal time for the Club as we look to reshape and refocus our efforts both on and off the park. Not only does he bring with him a wealth of experience in terms of Football Club operations and admin, but he also has a deep passion for the game. His first exposure to football was as a Scottish league referee and, ironically, his first game as a qualified linesman was at Links Park when Montrose played Alloa, back in the days before the new stand was built!”
“I would also like to put on record our sincere thanks to Davey Byrne for his past five years at the Club. Davey has been innovative and creative in modernising both our in-house and supporter facing systems and leaves us in a very positive position. Additionally and crucially, he also played a key role in ensuring our ability to return to football during the Covid pandemic. We wish Davey well in his future endeavours and he will always be a welcome visitor to Links Park.”
On his new role, Martin said, “I am delighted to be joining a club with a clear ambition and vision for the future.
“I’m looking forward to working closely with all stakeholders, the fans and the Montrose community as a whole. I feel that this is an exciting time to be at the club and the new season can’t come soon enough.”
