Montrose FC have appointed former keeper and Club Ambassador David Larter as their new Goalkeeping Coach, following the recent departure of player/coach Aaron Lennox.

Larter played in goals for the Links Park side from 1984 to 1998 making an impressive 432 appearances, earning him a place in the Gable Endies Hall of Fame in 2004. 

Always a favourite with the fans, David remained a staunch supporter and regular visitor to the Club over the years, which was instrumental in his appointment as Club Ambassador in April 2018.

David said,”I was shocked and surprised when Stewart asked if I would like to become Goalkeeping Coach. After speaking to my wife Hilary, I had no hesitation in accepting, and it had been a privilege and an honour to join the backroom team of the Club I love so much.

“I have loved the first week of pre-season training, the goalies and all boys have been excellent with me and I look forward to the season ahead and adding everything I can to the exceptional coaching and backroom staff.”

Assistant Manager, Ross Campbell added, “Obviously we are all delighted to have David join the coaching staff. His knowledge of the game and ability to motivate, shape and improve the young keepers is incredible but his deep routed passion and commitment to the Club is simply priceless and unbelievably infectious throughout the whole squad.”
