PETRIE SIGNS PROMISING JUNIOR STRIKER BATCHELOR

Montrose FC have agreed terms with Carnoustie Panmure JFC for the transfer of Craig Batchelor, bringing the highly sought after centre forward to Links Park on a one year deal.

Batchelor scored 8 goals for the Gowfers in the last 11 games of the most recent campaign, having made the move to Laing Park just at the end of March from Kirriemuir Thistle, where he netted an impressive 33 times in just 30 outings.

Craig commented, “I am delighted to be joining the Club. Having trained with the club before I know that it is a good place to be. I am looking forward to making the step up and excited for the new challenge ahead.”

Gable Endies Gaffer, Stewart Petrie added, “We are delighted to be adding Craig to our ranks and believe he is ready and capable of making the step up to League 1.

“His scoring exploits at Junior level have been very impressive, and at 26 is at a good age. He has been training with us for a while so we already know he will be a good fit in the dressing room and will provide good options for us in forward areas.

This brings Petrie’s squad for the coming season to 22, with Cammy Gill, Ryan Williamson, Kane Hester and Ally Shrive arriving as new faces, Aidan Quinn returning from loan, Luca Giacomini, Callum Grant and Cammy Middleton graduating from the Youth Academy and Craig Johnston, Aaron Lennox, Matty Allan, Lewis Milne and Mark Whatley all departing Links Park.
