REMEMBERING ALLY RIDDLE
On 13th June one of our former players, Ally Riddle sadly passed peacefully away. Ally played for Montrose from the 1959/60 season until the 1966/67 season and was a key member of our team when signed by Manager Norman Christie for all those seasons. Both men along with other legends like Jimmy Kemp, Jim Kilgannon, Frank Sandeman, Phil Grieve and others brought great respect to our football club by challenging for promotion to the top tier. Ally was our regular No7 playing on the right wing and older fans will never forget how Ally repeatedly crossed the ball for Jimmy Kemp and Billy Birse to apply the final touch for many a Mo goal.
Ally was a great family man, who have described him as their hero, and he will also remain a hero in the Montrose Football ‘Family’ forever. We extend our deepest sympathies to his family at this sad time.
Ally’s funeral will take place on Thursday 29th June at 11.45am at George Stewart’s on Millgate Loan and thereafter at the Eastern Cemetery.
