MIGHTY MO TREATED TO MEDIA MASTERCLASS BY ALLY BEGG!
The Montrose FC Media Team had the opportunity recently to learn from the insights and experience of sports presenter, senior football producer, author, blogger, videocast host and media talent manager Ally Begg.
Operations Manager, Martin Johnston explained, “We have just recently boosted the size of our media team with a wave of new volunteers, as we are keen to develop, grow and improve the media content and coverage around the Club.
“With many of our newbies very keen, but very young and inexperienced I wanted to help them to get going in some way. Ally has been a good friend of mine for a number of years and so I chanced my arm and asked a huge favour from him just before he jets off to Australia to work on the Women’s World Cup, and I was very pleased when he agreed to give us an hour of his time.”
Having first hit the big time in the 90’s with boy band Bad Boys Inc, Ally moved into broadcasting, first with Manchester United’s in house channel MUTV, before branching out to the likes of Sky Sports News, talkSPORT Radio, Setanta Sports and ESPN, working at home as well as across Asia, the Middle East and Africa.
Nowadays, living with his wife and two sons near Salzburg in Austria, Ally uses his vast experience in a consultancy capacity and can be heard regularly across Scotland’s independent radio stations on ‘The Big Saturday Football Show’.
Codie Petrie, a member of the newly formed Media Team and Co-ordinator for the Women’s team added, “It was great to hear so much advice from someone as experienced as Ally. He knows what works and what doesn’t, when it comes to protecting and promoting your Club and he also gave us loads of new ideas and encouragement.”
