ROSS APPOINTED ASSOCIATE DIRECTOR
The face and voice of Montrose FC, Ross Thomson has been appointed an Associate Director, as the strengthening of the Club’s off field team continues.
Announced recently, a two tier governance structure sees a new level of Associate Directors providing support to the Board, particularly with involvement in topic focussed committees.
Local school teacher Ross, whose association with the Gable Endies behind the scenes goes back 10 years, has become a household name with MO fans. Between being the voice behind every booming goal announcement at Links Park to bringing both professionalism and humour to video interviews, features and presentations, Ross has done much to raise the profile and reputation of the Club.
Chairman John Crawford said, “We are delighted Ross has accepted the role of Associate Director as deserved recognition for his continued and significant contribution over recent years.
“Ross’s commitment goes far beyond his obvious matchday duties, as he not only plays an active role on our Fundraising Committee, including being our renowned bingo caller, but also supports our Women’s team and hosts our monthly Club 500 draws, amongst many others.”
Ross added, “We often talk about Montrose Football Club being a family, and that is exactly how I feel about everyone involved with the club. I never expected to one day become an Associate Director, but it’s a real honour to accept the position.
“There can’t be many people in football given this opportunity that started life as the Mascot of their club. Becoming Monty the Mole was the beginning of a fantastic and very rewarding journey for me.”
