Montrose FC forward Blair Lyons reached 150 appearances for the Gable Endies recently when Falkirk visited at the end of March.

Manager Stewart Petrie brought the 27 year old to Links Park in the summer of 2019 from Lowland League side University of Stirling. After just one season, the tricky winger and top goal scorer landed a headline move to full time football with Championship outfit Partick Thistle.

Twelve months later, with things not quite working out under Ian McCall, a loan deal was struck with the Firhill side, paving the way for Lyons to make a return, a move made permanent just a year on.

A firm fans favourite, Blair lifted two trophies at the Club’s End of Season awards last week and now has 33 goals to his name, with his most recent brace securing 3 points at Kelty Hearts, securing an incredible fifth Championship Play-Off spot in 6 seasons for the Angus side.

Presenting Blair with his trophy, Chief Exec Peter Stuart said, “We would like to congratulate Blair on reaching this milestone. His performances this season have at times been outstanding, which together with his tally of 10 goals has played a vital part in us finishing once again in a play-off spot.

“He is clearly enjoying his football right now and in turn the fans just love to seeing him play, as he brings real skill, trickery, and excitement to any match. We hope he has many more games ahead in a Montrose shirt and that his goal tally can be added to, maybe even over the next week or so!”
