As we prepare for another season to come to a close and after over 5 seasons of commitment to Montrose FC Women, we are sad to announce Aimee Ridgeway has made the tough decision to say goodbye to the game.

Ridgeway, who will always be remembered for her incredible 70 goal season which resulted in her ending her week on Soccer AM, has been a truly inspirational individual on and off the football pitch.

Aimee Ridgeway commented “Montrose will always have a special place in my heart. A club that truly cares about driving women’s football forward, ensuring we feel included and supported. Without the support from the club, fans, volunteers, sponsors, staff and girls we wouldn’t be where we are today.

On a personal note, I am grateful for the opportunities throughout my time at Montrose. There are many special memories – scoring 70 goals one season, being invited onto Soccer AM, back to back promotions and playing in the SWPL. It’s more than just a game.

The club, staff and girls have been a source of strength during difficult moments and I will forever be grateful. I wish the club and girls all the success.”

Manager Feroz added “Aimee will be a huge loss on and off the the pitch. Aimee is a huge character in the changing room and has been part of this journey since day one. She has been instrumental in our success and was one of the main reasons I came to Montrose. I wish Aimee all the best in anything she does in the future , she is truly a Montrose legend and a very good friend.”

All the best Ridgeway!
