
MONTROSE 2-1 UNI OF STIRLING
Montrose took an early lead when a through ball from Gardyne found Lyons who blasted home off the post in the 6th minute.
Six minutes later a through ball from Bradford found Lyons who raced into the box and Hermiston fired his cut back over.
Stirling came close on the half hour mark but number 10 saw his low shot held by Matthews.
On the stroke of half time Andrew Steeves doubled the home sides lead when he played a one two with Hermiston inside the box before blasting into the roof of the net.
Montrose started the second half with Shrive and Cochrane on for Masson and Machado.
In the 50th minute Ali Shrive gathered a Cochrane cross and fired inches wide of the far post.
Some great play should have pulled a goal back for Stirling but the shot was deflected off Quinn onto the bar.
Montrose made a further two changes with Paton and MacIver Redwood taking the place of Steeves and Bradford.
A good through ball allowed University of Stirling to pull a goal back through their number 18 on the hour mark.
In the 70th minute Montrose replaced Smith, Hermiston and Gardyne with Emslie, Donaldson and Craig.
In the 75th minute Montrose went close to a third goal but Quinn’s header from Lyons corner was cleared off the line.
Aulay Martin went close for the Gable Endies but the visitors keeper pulled off a great save.
