Montrose FC have agreed a season long loan with Aberdeen FC for talented young left sided centre-back Blair McKenzie.

The promising 19-year-old played his youth football at Edinburgh side Hutchison Vale FC before signing as a professional for the Dons in 2021. Making a big impression at Pittodrie, the tall defender was rewarded with a two-year contract extension last summer, which began with a season out on loan, first to League 2 side Elgin City before joining Huntly FC of the Highland League back in February.

Manager Stewart Petrie said, “We would like to extend a warm welcome to Blair, who we are all very excited about. The youth coaches at Pittodrie rate him very highly and we believe he is ready to step up his development and show his potential at League 1 level.

“I would like to thank Steven Gunn and all the staff at Aberdeen for helping make this loan happen.”
