GABLE ENDIES AGREE CONTRACT EXTENSIONS OF GOALKEEPING DUO
Montrose FC have extended for 24 months the contracts of Cammy Gill and Ross Matthews, keeping both goalies at Links Park until the summer of 2027.
As a Gable Endie Academy Graduate, Matthews earned his first pro-contract with Manager Stewart Petrie in 2022, and has since made 19 appearances.
Gill made the short move north in 2023 from Angus rivals Arbroath and as Petrie’s recognised first choice stopper, made his 50th appearance recently at Cove.
Goalkeeping Coach David Larter said, “This is great news for the Club to have secured the services of two such quality keepers for the next 3 years.
“Still relatively young at just 22, Ross continues to develop very well, provides a constant and effective challenge to Cammy, and is always ready and reliable when called upon.
“Cammy has fitted into the group excellently, and given he had to step up to playing regularly from the moment he joined us, his level of consistency has been very impressive and some of his key saves over recent weeks have been absolutely top drawer.”
On penning the deal, Ross said, “I am delighted to have committed my future to the Club for the next couple of years. For me, I feel I’m in the perfect place to develop and improve as a player with this exciting group, and really looking forward to seeing what we can achieve over the next couple of seasons.”
Cammy added, “I am absolutely buzzing to get sorted for an extra 2 seasons. I’ve loved playing for the Club and probably the best I’ve felt about my football, and a lot of that is down to the changing room that we’ve got here.”
