MACHADO SIGNS 2-YEAR DEAL EXTENSION
Montrose FC midfielder Matheus Machado has agreed a 2-year contract extension, keeping the 23-year-old at Links Park until the summer of 2027.
The Brazilian born talented youngster has made 66 appearances for Manager Stewart Petrie’s side since arriving at Links Park from Breeden Highland League outfit Rothes in January 2023, having previously spent time at both Inverness Caledonian Thistle and Elgin.
Machado has scored twice for the Mighty Mo, both coincidentally coming on away trips at Kelty Hearts. His first was in March 2023, when as a substitute he scored a late winner in a 2-1 victory, and more recently doubled his Club tally, again coming off the bench in October to break the deadlock in a 2-0 win that took the Gable Endies to the top of the table, for a few hours at least.
Manager Stewart Petrie said, “We are delighted Matheus has agreed to extend his stay with us. He is a good lad, with a great character, and clearly has bags of ability. Being so comfortable and capable on the ball in tight situations means he can play in either defensive, midfield or wide positions, which gives us real versatility and options all over the park.”
Matheus added, “I feel absolutely delighted and happy to be extending my contract, when the Gaffer approached me about it, I had no doubt that I wanted to stay at the club.
“Since I joined I have really been enjoying my time here, it is a great club and environment, and I can’t wait for what the future holds for us.”
