Montrose FC stalwart Terry Masson made his 448^th appearance for the Club in the Festive Angus Derby, moving him clear into second place of all-time appearances for the Links Park side.

Leap frogging Bobby Livingstone’s 447 appearances, a record set in the late 70’s, Terry is now tucked in behind Legend Les Barr, who amassed 500 appearances during two spells with the Gable Endies through the 70’s and 80’s.

Unsurprisingly, the 36-year-old is currently the Club’s longest serving player, having arrived in June 2010 from junior side Carnoustie Panmure. In the 15 seasons since, the Dundee born midfielder has certainly experienced both the highs and lows that football can offer, coming inches from dropping out of the SPFL in 2015, to winning League Two in 2018.

With Stewart Petrie establishing the Angus side as a solid League One outfit over the last 7 years, Masson has stepped up to the challenge and been a key part of arguably the most successful period in the Club’s 145-year history.

Presenting Terry with his trophy, Club Chairman John Crawford said, “On behalf of everyone at the Club I would like to congratulate Terry on reaching this magnificent milestone.

“He has been an incredible servant for the Club over the past decade and a half, bringing a real physical presence and determination to the midfield, something the fans really love him for.”

“We hope he has many more games ahead in a Mo shirt and he should rightly have his eye on reaching Les Barr’s total, which is certainly not beyond him.”
