MONTROSE 0-4 ALLOA ATHLETIC

A disappointing day for Montrose as Alloa put 4 goals past them.

The first real chance of the game came the visitors’ way as a corner was floated in but the header didn’t trouble Cammy Gill as it sailed wide.

Montrose were looking good with good play flowing down the right hand side. However, it was Alloa who opened the scoring in the 20th minute after a controversial penalty was converted by Scott Taggart. The Montrose bench was not happy with the decision, making their voices heard.

Montrose went into half time 1-0 down but with a few good chances of their own.

The home side started the second half well. A key moment was when Terry Masson won the ball back brilliantly and he squared it to Ewan Loudon who didn’t manage to steer his shot on target.

Loudon again had a good chance to score in the 62nd minute when he was played in, one on one and forced a good stop from the Alloa keeper.

Things were looking good for Montrose until the visitors doubled their lead with a Callum Burnside header. The ball was played into the box with no one marking the Alloa man who had a free header.

It then went from bad to worse for Montrose as Stefan Scougall scored to make it 3-0.

Finally, in the last minute of the game Alloa rubbed salt in an already gaping wound to make it 4-0.
